From Rags to Riches and back to rags…

a little bubbly never hurt anyone.

I guess I will welcome myself back!  A lot has happened since and I left and will try my best to get you all caught up to where my sister and I got to sip on some bubbly, note picture.

We jet-setted to Cannes, France for the 63rd film festival to see what trouble and excitement awaited us!  We stepped off the plane in Nice and were picked up VIP style and brought to a beautiful villa in Cannes where as beautiful as it was we would hardly spend any time there as the parties and meetings took over.  Now this was my fourth time in Cannes, two for the festival and two for summer vacation, this year was exceptionally cold as the week before a major storm pretty much washed all the beaches and beach clubs away, so when we arrived it seemed as though it was slowly getting it out of its system, from what I gather the city of Cannes did a tremendous job getting the city back in shape for the festival.  On a side note I was glad that I brought my rain coat and umbrella as it was needed the first week.  None the less the first event that we would be assisting in was the premiere after party for “Wall street 2: Money Never Sleeps”.  This party was orchestrated by none other than Danielle Pelland of Brilliant Events and Marketing whose 6th appearance and fifth time planning events came to glorious fruition.  The Party was set at a Chateau and the theme was tropical set by a pool with flowing white canopies, loungers, grey goose cocktails, amazing appetizers and a world renowned Dj Fabian Koufach from Bagatelle in NYC.  The guest list included the cast; Shea Labeouf, Carey Mulligan, Josh Brolin, Oliver Stone; Victoria secret models such as Anna Kurkova and 500 industry insiders.  As the flow of creative cocktails Grey Goose put together were dispersed, meant that my sis and I would head over to the dance floor and really get things started.  The dj played my favourite song Hey Hey by Dennis Ferrer and it was game on, everyone got up and started dancing.  The sign of a successful party!

The dancing lasted all night because we headed to a club called the VIP room which starts to get busy at 3 am, it is a super club with thousands of party-goers inside and outside waiting to get in….if you can get in it is unreal, because there is a famous Dj every single night of the festival and the sound system and energy in there is just sick!!  You really have to experience it yourself.  Now it is not everyone’s cup of tea, because the slogan is “VIP ROOM, the f*** club”  and if you ever get there you will know what it means, and it’s not just whats happening in the club, but the before and after as well that concludes the experience.  I mean If you cannot go to the South of France, I am sure that Vegas is close.  As the evening approached or rather I should say early morning we were all starving and the only thing to get to eat this late/early is pizza-our driver brought us to the only place in Cannes open 24hrs and my sister and I hoped out and ran into this pizza place where the music was bumping and it was packed with people still drinking and socializing.  We decided to get our pizzas to go, while waiting two things occurred, one a really drunk french guy was harassing me and trying to shove his pizza in my face!  I kept saying “touche pas” ! and he said “you speak very good English French” !  I had finally come across a local, who drunk enough probably always wanted to say that to a tourist, well he had his moment.  Secondly sitting right beside us was Cuba Gooding Jr.,  we grabbed our pizzas and ran back to the car and devoured them in the car like there was no tommorrow…we finally made it back to the villa and the second our heads touched the pillow we were out cold.  This was a great way to start the festivities and make a great impression for my sister who has never been to Europe before or partied the way they do in the South of  France…and this is why I love it here so much because it is one of the few places where I get to be free and be myself.  This was only the beginning and to be continued….
